The Ford GT is an American-made supercar that represents the halo car of the Ford lineup. It is a modern take on the Ford racing heritage cars that has traditionally been sold to an elite group of car buyers as the car is usually in limited production and comes with a hefty price tag, at least as compared to other Ford cars. For the current run of the Ford GT supercar, it seems that demand is greatly outpacing what the automaker had anticipated. In fact, the demand is as great as six to one versus what they thought they needed to make to satisfy buyer demands of the halo car. As a result of this extreme demand, Ford will now have to boost production in the limited run Ford GT due to the demand.
The limited production run opens up on the Ford GT with a price tag of $400,000 with the application process reopening on November 8, 2018. The application process to buy one of the current production Ford GT cars will remain open for 30 days after it opens. This will increase the open spots to buy this supercar from the original 1,000 to a now 1,350 available spots. Ford is also expanding production that was originally planned to span until 2020, and now they will be making the Ford GT until 2022.
Unlike most Ford cars, you can’t walk into a Ford dealership and buy a Ford GT, this is why the application process is so interesting to people, but it not at all uncommon for limited production vehicles. The car is handmade by Multimatic, a Canadian supplier for Ford. It has a top speed of 216 miles per hour and has a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine with a twin-turbocharger system.
